Q&A: Jingbo Jiang
We have a network of offices across the globe providing local expertise and support to our editors, societies, authors and tailored, efficient customer service to our library colleagues.
We caught up with Jingbo Jiang, our eBooks and Online References Sales Manager for China, based in Shanghai.
Could you give us a quick overview of your role?
I joined Taylor & Francis Group 8 years ago in 2011, starting as a regional Journal Sales Executive and in 2015 I moved to the eBook Sales Team. My role is to work across local offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu to expand the influence of Taylor & Francis’s and to deliver the company’s continuous growth in China.
What made you decide to work in publishing?
I wanted to be a part of bringing the highest level of academic research to China.
Can you tell us more about the Taylor & Francis teams and offices in China?
All together in Beijing we have 21 colleagues covering Administration, Sales, Editorial and Marketing. 3 employees in Shanghai share an office with Informa GE and BI and SSC, 3 are home-based in Guangzhou and 1 in Chengdu.
Why do you think it is important to have local teams?
While the alignment with our headquarters brings the most updated development of publications internationally, our insights from China empower in-depth local participation with Academia.
Anything else you think we should know about your role or the China teams?
I genuinely believe that continuous learning forms a necessary part in acquiring critical thinking skills and discovering new ways of relating to people from different cultures. To live a life without continuous learning is unthinkable. For my role as eBook sales manager in China, it’s very crucial for me never to stop learning from both traditional book publishing as well as the cutting-edge technology of the digitalized online world.
