Political Research Exchange

For 2018 and 2019, all authors are eligible to publish open access in PRX with a waived APC

PRX offers a dynamic platform to advance research, innovation and debate across the breadth of political science. The journal seeks to publish significant contributions from all fields. These include comparative politics, international politics or international relations, political communication, political sociology, political thought, public administration and interdisciplinary work with a predominantly political dimension.

Quality: An international group of associate editors represent the scope and breadth of ECPR, and ensure fairness with triple-blind external peer review.

Depth: Editorial evaluation and independent peer review are combined with a digital-first system so that authors can embed evidence (including video, audio and data visualisation) and link to datasets, code or supplementary materials.

Accessibility: ECPR subsidizes the publication costs often associated with open access to ensure the availability of quality research, irrespective of funding.

Exchange: The journal seeks to serve as a platform for synergy and exchange across and beyond the study of politics.

View our infographic for an overview of the journal, how it's contributing to Open Scholarship and what that means in the wider discipline of political science.

The Plan S Debate: What does Open Access mean for Political Science?

ECPR General Conference 2019 Featured Panel: 05/09/2019 11:00 - 12:40 | (Building D) Faculty of Law, Administration & Economics Floor: 2nd floor Room: 2, University of Wrocław

Recent moves by funding bodies towards mandating Open Access to research, exemplified by “Plan S”, are making it ever more essential for scholars in the political sciences to engage with, and understand, the diversity of publishing options available to them.

Alongside potential benefits of increased visibility and availability, mandatory OA has been criticized for potential negative impacts it may have on scholarly societies, academic freedom, and equality and diversity, especially for independent scholars and researchers in the Global South. This panel brings together a variety of perspectives in a round table format, to encourage open discussion and debate.
