This webinar takes as a point of departure the vision of social work as a person-centered and holistic endeavor aiming at the empowerment of people both individually and collectively. It draws on the Special Issue of Nordic Social Work Research on Coordinated Interventions Against Violence in Close Relationships, which illustrates the current gaps in the welfare system when it comes to violence in close relationships, as well as the dire implications for the health and wellbeing of both adults and children subjected to violence. At the webinar, three of the special issue’s contributions will be highlighted:

Ticking the boxes: Fathers’ performativity, change and intimate partner violence, by Rannveig Guðjónsdóttir

Managing Post-Separation Violence: Mothers’ Strategies and the Challenges of Receiving Societal Protection, by Martina Vikander, Anna-Karin L. Larsson and Åsa Källström

To juggle conflicting demands when implementing a new model to combat child physical abuse, by Johanna Thulin, Mikael Skillmark and Åsa Landberg

Together these presentations point to needs of further development of knowledge and improvement of policy and practice.
