Great strides have been made in various areas of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) to improve quality of service, communication and computing mechanism by applying optimization algorithms. These efforts are currently being considered together with the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning (ML).
At present, there is a growing number of solutions that provide Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. With huge data from Sensor networks (SNs) integration of AI/ML presents real challenge for researchers. The integration of these two technologies benefits other areas such as Industry 4.0, Internet of Things, Blockchain etc. Furthermore, communication networks, embedded computers, control theory, data fusion and knowledge discover are all areas that require further research. For example, CPS might provide information that aids the decision-making process and it will allow systems to learn and to monitor activity. New AI and ML algorithms are needed to execute different strategies to ensure right decisions are made. New clustering and classification techniques, reinforcement learning methods, or data quality approaches are required,
This special issue calls for innovative work that explores new frontiers and challenges in the field of applying AI algorithms to CPS. As mentioned previously, this work will include new machine learning models, distributed AI proposals, hybrid AI systems, etc., as well as case studies or reviews of the state-of-the-art.
This special issue aims to stimulate discussion on the design, use and evaluation of various technologies for CPS with applications, including, smart building, smart farming, Intelligent transportation, and smart data-driven decision making. Moreover, dynamic domains of applied artificial intelligence such as machine learning, data mining and semantic web, amongst others, provide novel and sophisticated techniques as scalable intelligent solutions. We encourage the submission of articles describing applications of intelligent methods to leverage deeper insights from the vast amount of data generated. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

Original, high-quality contributions that are not yet published or that are not currently under review by other journals or peer-reviewed conferences are sought. Papers will be peer-reviewed by independent reviewers and selected based on originality, scientific quality and relevance to this Special Issue.
