In many applied and industrial settings, there is a growing attention to the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for quality data. AI refers to the broad set of techniques which replicates human cognitive and analytical skills for problem solving, including Machine Learning, Neural Networks and Deep Learning.
The main objective of this special issue is to present a clear perspective of opportunities and challenges offered by AI techniques in the field of quality data modelling, statistical process monitoring, design of experiments, process optimization, reliability, with respect to the current solutions. This special issue will publish original high-quality papers where AI-based approaches are compared and/or combined with traditional solutions to solve real-world problems in the area of quality technology. As most of the AI-based solution are empirically tuned to the specific problem at hand, special attention should be devoted to validation and generalizability of the proposed solution.
Possible topics include, but are not limited to:
- Process monitoring, anomaly detection and/or change point
- Fault classification and diagnostic
- Training set cleaning and phase I analysis
- Causal modeling and experimentation
- Reliability modeling and prognostics
All papers must be prepared in accordance with the Journal of Quality Technology standards and guidelines, and will be reviewed following the regular review process of the journal. Submission of a manuscript implies that the work has not been published before, and is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors are required to submit the paper in PDF or MS Word via the T&F website, selecting the special issue during the submission process. In keeping with the journal policy, authors will be asked to share data and code used in the paper as additional material.
Instructions for authors
