Siblings Across the Life Course

The Journal of Family Social Work is inviting papers for a special issue that will focus on siblings. We are interested in manuscripts that address, but are not limited to, the following areas:

  • Adult sibling relationships
  • Sibling relationships in LGBTQ parent families
  • Foster or adoptive sibling relationships
  • Sibling reunification related to adoption or other childhood separations
  • Siblings in families with a special needs child
  • Siblings as caretakers for ill, aging, or special needs siblings
  • Grief and loss of siblings in childhood or adulthood
  • Parenting challenges and interventions with sibling issues
  • Cross cultural comparisons of sibling relationships across the life course
  • Violence or abuse between siblings

We are also interested in theoretical or practice-oriented papers that represent a well-rounded understanding of the specific concerns, as well as research efforts to advance practice knowledge in this area.
