About the Role

Journal of Cyber Security Technology is looking for a new Editor-in-Chief with an academic background in cyber security, encompassing technical aspects of software, systems, IT, networks, communications, cryptography, and various other fields.

Do you have the passion to drive the journal forward in an exciting period of change? This is an important role, with the ability to shape the future of research in this field, and one that is achievable within a working academic timetable.

The successful candidate will be responsible for editorial oversight and decision-making on submissions. S/he will have authority to accept articles following successful peer review and will ensure that reviewers and authors adhere to the Journal’s Code of Publishing Ethics. There will be an agreed handover period with the out-going Editor-in-Chief to ensure seamless transition. Taylor & Francis will provide remuneration for the role to cover journal-related expenses. Taylor & Francis can also help to organize regular board meetings, and we will supply annual reports reflecting on the performance of the Journal. The Journal utilizes Editorial Manager for online peer-review management and tracking. Becoming the editor of a journal is a rewarding and fulfilling experience where you will build your own networks, promote the research that you are passionate about, and be recognized as a leading figure within the academic community.

  • Someone who is active in both academic and industry cyber security communities with strong personal networks
  • Confidence to engage with authors and researchers to solicit the highest quality submissions
  • Strong organizational skills to ensure that submissions are handled in a timely manner
  • The ability to foster positive working relationships with colleagues such as Associate Editors and Editorial Board Members

We are looking to conduct interviews from late-October through the close of the application period. The role will formally begin from January 2022.

Cyber security is a rapidly growing area of computer science and technology, encompassing software, systems, IT, networks, communications, cryptography, and various other fields across numerous platforms including traditional computers, smartphones, tablets, servers and any networkable device, whether Internet-connected or not. The Journal of Cyber Security Technology is aimed at publishing world-leading research and is dedicated to being the primary platform for research in all technical areas of cyber security. It encompasses original research and review papers in computer science, electronics, networking, information technology, systems, telecommunications, and other related areas. Topics include, but are not limited to, the following areas: Hacking, Denial-of-Service attacks, cyberwarfare, viruses, malware, vulnerability analysis, encryption, integrity, firewalls, authentication, exploits, and insider threats. While some articles will be highly specialized in their nature, the journal will try to create a balance of addressing current research issues to a wide range of stakeholders, and will encourage inter-disciplinary papers on burning topics of the day.
