School Counseling

The Journal of Counseling Children and Adolescents (JCAC) will publish a special issue on school-based counseling interventions in December 2019. School-based counseling practice, including the role of the professional school counselor, is of critical importance to the study of counseling children and adolescents and JCAC’s mission. For an upcoming special issue, JCAC is requesting manuscripts that feature innovative, evidence-based approaches to counseling in Pre-K-12 school settings.

We are seeking submissions that address a range of age groups, presenting issues, and target populations. We are interested in manuscripts that describe challenges and solutions to critical problems in schools, and address children and adolescents’ academic and psychosocial development and family systems/organizational change. All manuscripts should be grounded in current research as well as applicable for practitioners working in a diverse society. High quality counseling research on school counseling interventions is a priority. For conceptual works, authors can use case examples or vignettes to illustrate counseling techniques and application to inclusive school settings.
