About the Article Collection
This Article Collection in Pain Management, titled “Managing Musculoskeletal Pain Conditions through Non-Pharmacological and Non-Surgical Therapies”, will explore treatment options for musculoskeletal pain conditions, including approaches for reducing pain interference and pain intensity, reducing pain care seeking, and altering pain trajectories.
The Collection will cover:
Clinical trials investigating musculoskeletal (MSK) pain management approaches
Mechanistic clinical trials evaluating causative pain mechanisms and their relationship to clinical outcomes
Non-surgical and non-pharmaceutical interventions that influence pain trajectory
Novel measures to capture the burden of the pain experience in individuals with MSK pain conditions
The use of composite outcomes to better reflect a person pain experience and recovery
The role of social and psychological factors on the pain experience in individuals with musculoskeletal pain conditions
Moderators and mediators of the pain experience in individuals with musculoskeletal pain conditions
We welcome many article types that may include the following: Reviews, Perspectives, Original Research, Clinical Trial Protocols, Drug and Device Evaluations, Editorials, Commentaries, and Plain Language Summaries of Publications (PLSPs).
We can offer a wide range of publishing solutions to maximise the impact of your published article, including infographics, graphical abstracts and standalone video articles hosted on the Video Journal of Biomedicine.
The benefit of publishing as part of an Article Collection is that they often become a key resource, driving a research community forward. This has a synergistic effect on every article in the Collection. The articles often receive more views and higher citation numbers as the Collections receive increased promotion via social media and our marketing team.
If you are interested in contributing, or would like to learn more, then please reach out to the Commissioning Editor, Thomas York, who will be happy to assist.
About the Guest Advisors

William Reed
My research interests are directed towards determining the peripheral and central mechanisms of spinal manual therapy (i.e. spinal manipulation/spinal mobilization, massage) for the treatment of musculoskeletal pain. I participate in both clinical and basic research and use a variety of animal models, custom-made spinal manual therapy devices, behavioral and electrophysiological methods to investigate translationally relevant research questions with the ultimate goal of improving clinical care.

Chad Cook
My research interests are focused on validation and understanding of day-to-day examination and treatment principles for musculoskeletal conditions. With a focus on both clinical and mechanistic research, I have been involved in a broad range of studies and enjoy writing manuscripts and grants.
