Sustainable Development Global Challenges Competition

International Journal of Sustainable Engineering

VISIT JOURNAL

About the prize

The International Journal of Sustainable Engineering aims to provide engineers from a variety of backgrounds with access to a valuable source of cross-disciplinary information for promoting sustainable practices. Our authors investigate a broad range of issues ranging from nature inspired design and sustainable and smart materials to resource efficient production and circular business and consumption models. An earlier article published in the journal highlighted the need for a greater understanding of sustainable development challenges through the UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) framework.

In this context, there are several new perspectives for engineering research. These awards are part of a larger initiative to identify the most impactful research that directly contributes to the UN SDGs.

Winners of the following awards will receive a waiver code to publish in the International Journal of Sustainable Engineering and a certificate of acknowledgement.

To be considered for the 2022 Awards, please submit your paper to the International Journal of Sustainable Engineering and indicate that you would like to be considered for an award when prompted. Then, please indicate which award you would like to be considered for in your cover letter. Deadline for submissions: 30th October 2022

*If your paper is not selected for an award, you will still have the option to publish in the journal and will be responsible for the APC.

Emerging Researcher Award

The Emerging Researcher Award will be presented to an early career researcher who is within 5 years of PhD graduation (such as postdoctoral fellows, research assistance professors, and early-stage assistant professors). The Emerging Researcher Award will commemorate an early career researcher who is making a significant contribution to the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals and thus has a positive effect on our future.

Best Paper Award

The Best Paper should contribute to at least one of the UN SDGs, providing some insight or innovative solution to steer the development and achievement of these goals. *All submissions from 1 August 2022 – 30 October 2022 will be considered for this award.

Greatest Contribution to Sustainable Development Goal 2 – Zero Hunger

The Contribution to SDG 2 Award is determined as the manuscript with the greatest contribution to the advancement of Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger. Topics should include Global Food Security, Sustainable Agriculture, Resilience in the food supply chain, and similar topics that contribute to the Zero Hunger initiative.

Greatest Contribution to Sustainable Development Goal 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation

The Contribution to SDG 6 Award is determined as the manuscript with the greatest contribution to the advancement of Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation. Topics should include Water Engineering, Wastewater Management, water efficiency in industrial applications, and similar topics that contribute to the Clean Water initiative.
