International Journal of Sustainable Energy is converting to Open Access from its 2023 volume.

From 23rd June, all manuscripts submitted to the journal will, if accepted, be required to pay an article publishing charge (APC) which can be covered by an author’s funder or institution.

The International Journal of Sustainable Energy’s move to open access represents our commitment to increasing our impact within the scientific community and accelerating scientific progress. We believe the journal will thrive, continuing our rigorous peer review process, expanding our global readership and enabling our authors to benefit from the greater visibility of open research.

As part of this transition the journal will have a new Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Paris Fokaides. We look forward to receiving your submissions and welcome your support in this exciting new open access chapter for the journal.

A message from the departing Editor-in-Chief, Professor Agis M. Papadopoulos

Ten years are quite a long time, and a lot has happened in the scientific community and in the publishing sector since 2012, when I took over as Editor-in-Chief of this journal. Over the last ten years International Journal of Sustainable Energy has improved its metrics, has covered new research areas, and has given to researchers from all over the world opportunity to publish their work. One thing that remains constant, is the quest for high quality papers, to inform fellow researchers all over the world on issues of sustainability, as we are facing the challenges of climate change, of energy crisis and of a world that seems to be drifting into unchartered waters.

I am fully confident that with Prof. Paris Fokaides as Editor-in-Chief the journal will further progress, meet new challenges and become even more successful.

I would like to thank all the staff from Taylor and Francis for their great support and the excellent cooperation, our reviewers, who provided an invaluable contribution, and of course the members of the Editorial Board, who were companions in this splendid trip.

Professor Agis M. Papadopoulos
