About the prize

We would like to invite submissions for the IJSRM Early Career Researcher Competition for Best Paper.

Who’s eligible to enter?

To be eligible to be considered for this prize, you must:

  • Have 3 years or less of active research experience (accounting for career breaks and/or part-time working). This may be 3 years from PhD viva completion or equivalent research experience*

  • Be lead author on the submitted manuscript, contributing to at least 70% of the paper.

Additionally, there must be no more than 4 co-authors on the submitted manuscript. If two early career researchers have jointly written the paper, they may both be considered for the prize but must have equally contributed to writing the paper.

How do I enter?

To enter your paper, please submit your manuscript to the journal in the usual way through the ScholarOne platform, accessed through the journal website. During the submission process, select ”yes” in response to the question “Would you like to be considered for the IJSRM Early Career Researcher Competition for Best Paper?”. Entries can be made at any time.

Where authors have selected this option, papers accepted for publication in the journal will be considered. Please note, however, that selecting this option does not influence editorial decisions; all papers will still go through the usual anonymous peer-review process.

Eligible papers will be judged against the following 4 criteria:

  1. Originality

  2. Rigour

  3. Significance to the field

  4. Accessibility to the IJSRM readership

What’s the prize?

The winner will receive a £200 book voucher. With their agreement, the successful paper will be featured on the journal’s website and social media channels.

We look forward to receiving your submissions!
