Expert Review of Anticancer Therapy- Triple Negative Breast Cancer Therapies and Clinical Management
About the special issue
Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an invasive breast cancer that spreads quickly, accounts for 10-15% of all breast cancers and has a worse prognosis compared to other types of breast cancers. It is named ‘triple-negative’ as the breast cancer cells do not have estrogen or progesterone receptors and the cells do not produce enough of the protein ‘HER2’ to target in therapy. Because these 3 common targets for treatment in breast cancer are not available in TNBC it makes it much harder to treat and there are limited treatment options available currently. This special issue of Expert Review of Anticancer Therapy will focus on the current clinical management of TNBC and the progress being made in the development of new effective therapies and will be published to coincide with breast cancer awareness month in October
