Expert Review of Clinical Pharmacology – Therapeutic Drug Monitoring in Special Populations
About the special issue
Clinical pharmacology plays a fundamental role in the era of precision medicine, with the advent of therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) creating new and exciting opportunities to improve clinical outcomes in patients. Drugs with a narrow therapeutic range or high pharmacokinetic variability pose significant challenges with dosing guidelines and this is particularly relevant when considering special populations (i.e., infants and children, pregnant women, obese patients, etc.).
This special focus issue will explore what therapeutic advancements are being made with TDM, what challenges remain with its clinical implementation (including how these may be overcome) and what future prospects are on the horizon. In addition to this, we are also open to receiving content that focuses on TDM in special populations. We welcome review articles, original research, perspectives, interviews, drug profiles and short editorials that highlight these advances in TDM.
