The Journal of Slavic Military Studies investigates all aspects of military affairs in the Slavic nations of central and eastern Europe in historical and geopolitical context, offering a vehicle for security and military analysts in these regions to air their views. Its unique, international Editorial Board and diverse content includes translations of newly released Soviet and Russian documents and specialist book reviews. This journal is an essential read for academics, military figures and civilians who are interested in this region’s security and military affairs. The journal publishes four issues per year. We are looking for expressions of interest for the position of Editor-in-Chief as outlined below. Expressions of interest from individuals or Co-Editorship teams will be considered. In cases of Co-Editorships, please clearly outline the roles, responsibilities and how you intend to work as a team. We are looking for a new Editor-in-Chief with an academic background in Slavic military affairs, as well as the passion to drive the journal forward in an exciting period of change. Due to the nature of the journal, Russian language comprehension is a requirement, as well as a demonstrated record of publications and teaching/hands on work in the field. A military background or PhD qualification would be a plus but not required. It is a significant, high-profile role, but one that is achievable within a busy working schedule and academic timetable. The successful candidate will take responsibility for editorial oversight and decision-making on manuscript submissions. They will have authority to accept articles following successful peer review and ensure that reviewers and authors adhere to the Code of the Committee on Publication Ethics. Becoming the editor of a journal is a rewarding and fulfilling experience, giving you the opportunity to build your own networks, promote the research you are passionate about, and become recognized as a leading figure within the academic community.

- The ability to foster positive working relationships with colleagues, such as Assistant Editors, Book Reviews Editors and Translations Editors
Taylor & Francis will provide remuneration for the role to cover any journal-related expenses.

- Where you believe the field is going, and the journal’s place within it
- How you would work in partnership with the Editorial Board
- How you would oversee and stimulate the quality of submissions
- How you would work with authors
