Content, Structure, History and Global Impact of APA’s Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct
The American Psychological Association (APA) published its first code of ethics in 1953. Since then, several revisions of the document have been completed and published. The various versions of the APA code generated debate and discussion related to its optimization and influenced ethics training and professional regulation around the globe.
The focus of the issue will be on the content, structure, history and global impact of APA’s Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Contact. We are seeking articles that will make a novel contribution to the literature. Non-empirical submissions that only focus on the application of the code to specific situations are discouraged. Reviews of the published literature on APA’s Code of Ethics and/or its history will be considered as will critiques of the code’s content (e.g., Are there any omissions or problems with the structure and/or content of the code? What are the code’s unique strengths? What is the empirical/theoretical basis of the code’s content?) and recommendations for future revisions and further improvement.
Deadline for submissions of manuscripts will be July 15, 2019 but this deadline can be extended for exceptional manuscripts. If you are considering to make a submission, please contact Dr. Thomas Hadjistavropoulos, Editor-in-Chief, to discuss the submission and timelines. This will facilitate the planning of the Special Issue. All submissions will be subject to regular peer review and the editorial process of the journal. You can submit your manuscript through our online submission portal.
