About the role

The American Journal of Drug and Alcohol Abuse (AJDAA) is seeking a Social Media Editor to take a leadership role in advancing the journal’s visibility and boosting engagement of the academic community and lay public with AJDAA. This effort will involve managing the journal’s online presence by developing a strategy, producing excellent content, assessing usage data, and managing and facilitating the development of social media communities by originating and responding to social media posts (particularly Twitter @AJDAAjournal) and developing discussions.

The Social Media Editor will be appointed as a member of the AJDAA Editorial Board and will work with the Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editors, and Publisher. There is an annual honorarium of $2000 (USD) provided for this position.

The AJDAA is an international ISI journal with a 2022 2-year Impact Factor of 2.7. It is listed in both the Science Index and the Social Citations Index. The journal is published six times per year, encompassing drug and alcohol use and misuse and all addictive disorders (including behavioral), covering topics such as public policy, epidemiology, neurobiology, and treatment. The journal also publishes a wide range of translational research, covering preclinical and clinical aspects of the field.

The American Journal of Drug and Alcohol Abuse (AJDAA) is an international, interdisciplinary journal that is published six times per year. AJDAA provides a venue for researchers to disseminate clinically relevant research findings and innovative perspectives in the field of addiction. Topics published in AJDAA span preclinical to population-based analyses, including applied methodology, neurobiology, behavioral science, treatment, epidemiology, and public policy.

The successful candidate should have experience using social media channels in either their professional and/or personal lives. The candidate should be actively involved in the study of substance use disorders.
