Section Editors needed for

Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology

About the role

Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology is currently recruiting Section Editors for two sections – Dermatopathology and Dermatologic Surgery.

These roles are a great opportunity for academics with a strong background in skin disease and cosmetic interventions, including skin development and aging, dermal histology and treatment options.. They have overall responsibility for the content that is published in their section. In addition:

  • They are also responsible for the commissioning of articles and driving content to their section.
  • The Section Editor is responsible for curating the Editorial Board Members for within their section, ensuring that all members are appropriate for the section, and actively engaged within the journal.
  • It is expected that the Section Editor acts as an ambassador for the journal and will collaborate with the Editor-in-Chief and Publisher in advocating for the journal, including raising the profile of the journal.
  • A Section Editor is expected to actively feed into the journal’s development initiatives and engage with the Publisher and Editor in Chief, attending at least two (virtual) meetings per year.
  • Section Editors will be assigned all articles submitted to their section. They are responsible for assessing submissions for suitability, rejecting those that are out of scope, not suitable or unsound. The Reviewer Selection Support team will coordinate the review process, which includes selecting and inviting suitable reviewers. The Section Editor is responsible for providing their own assessment of the paper and decision, based upon the reviewer reports received, in a timely manner.
  • The Section Editor should make all final decisions, considering the reviewer reports, as well as their own review of the paper. Articles should be accepted or rejected in line with the journal’s acceptance criteria.

Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal that focuses on the latest clinical and experimental research in all aspects of skin disease and cosmetic interventions.

Meta-analyses will no longer be considered for publication.

Specific topics covered by the journal include:

  • Normal and pathological processes in skin development and aging, their modification and treatment
  • Basic research into histology of dermal structures
  • Clinical insights and potential treatment options
  • Patient satisfaction, preference, quality of life, compliance
  • Development of new management options to optimize outcomes for target conditions

The journal is characterized by the rapid reporting of clinical studies, reviews and original research in skin research and skin care.

Key Skills and Attributes

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in academic publishing and familiarity with all stages of the process.
  • The capacity to devote time each week to the role, and to attend Editorial Board meetings and training sessions as needed.
  • The ability to ensure all assigned manuscripts are considered in a prompt, consistent and professional manner.
  • The ability to confidently use an online peer review management system following training.
  • The ability to read, summarize, and make decisions based on independent reviewer reports.
  • A commitment to engaging promptly and efficiently with Taylor & Francis staff and suppliers to implement necessary processes and improvements.
  • A strong commitment to ethical rigour as well as knowledge of the COPE guidelines and commitment to ensure that the journal adheres to strict ethical standards at all times.
  • A willingness to proactively lead the section editorial board, including collaborating with the Publisher.
  • A proven track record as a key opinion leader and known figure within your academic discipline.
  • Actively involved in growing and developing your academic networks through conference attendance and experience of networking through social media.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the open access publishing environment.
  • Enthusiasm for the continuous development of the journal.
