Online Editor needed for

New Review of Film and Television Studies

About the role

New Review of Film and Television Studies is hiring a new team member to oversee the development and curation of the NRFTS blog (launched 2020) and podcast (launched 2023). The Online Editor will be responsible for managing the journal’s web presence and public outreach. Our online initiatives are intended to promote and distribute the NRFTS journal and supplementary content in innovative ways that amplify its impact and enhance its accessibility. Primary expectations for this position include coordinating journal communications through NRFTS promotional channels, bolstering and finessing NRFTS brand and web optics, and mobilizing social media to support NRFTS authors and the media studies community we engage. Familiarity with Squarespace is a plus. The Online Editor will work closely with the Associate Editor and Editor.

About the Journal

One of the leading media studies journals, New Review of Film and Television Studies publishes peer-reviewed research on the theory, history, aesthetics, and politics of expressive screen culture. Committed to a broad definition of film and television studies, NRFTS welcomes articles on digital, sound, video, and web-based media. The journal particularly encourages contributions on and by media creators and scholars from underrepresented groups, and values work informed by intersectional approaches and diverse perspectives. We maintain rigorous intellectual standards while striving to be accessible to a broad readership. Each quarterly issue features substantive scholarship alongside reviews of important recent books in the study of international media.

Please note: NRFTS is oriented toward humanistic, rather than social scientific, perspectives and methodologies.

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Content development and curation – Manage blog and podcast content, coordinate journal communications, and create supplementary materials that promote the journal
