New Journal in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Particle Physics

About the role

The role of Editor-in-Chief will include the following.

  • Developing the subject area coverage and aims and scope for the new journal
  • Appointing, in consultation with the Publisher, an Editorial Board of prominent and respected academics, with an eye to ethnic, geographical and gender diversity, and breadth of experience
  • Commissioning some open access (OA) articles, working with the authors to establish (and meet) deadlines;
  • Encouraging the Editorial Board to commission OA articles, and keeping in touch with them to ensure that the flow of manuscripts is steady;
  • Overseeing peer review for submitted articles (within ScholarOne, the journal’s submission system) and taking decisions (accept, reject, etc) on the suitability of articles;
  • General editorial duties, for example liaising with Taylor & Francis’s Peer Review and Production Departments on aspects such as ethical queries and issue compilation;
  • Acting as an ambassador for the journal to promote its reputation, academic success, and prosperity as a fully OA journal.

The newly appointed Editor(s) will be setting up an Editorial Board for the journal, and we will also be seeking peer reviewers for articles submitted to the new journal.
