About the role

Expert Opinion on Therapeutic Patents is seeking a Social Media Editor to create and run an engaging new journal Twitter handle, to promote the journal, and further support its increasing reach and dissemination.

The successful candidate should be studying for or possess a doctoral degree in medical diagnostics, medical law and/or pharmaceutical research. They should be able to work and communicate effectively with the journals’ Editorial team, as well as interact with the Taylor & Francis subject accounts, including @tandfmedicine.

The Social Media Editor will be expected to ‘tweet’ topical, popular, and newly published Expert Opinion on Therapeutic Patents content to the public, and to ‘tweet’ each newly published Expert Opinion on Therapeutic Patents article, and issue, once. Where appropriate, additional tweets should be made regarding the launch of articles collections, special focused issues, and updates to the Editorial Board. The successful candidate is likely to have proven experience of using social media channels in either their professional and/or personal lives.

The successful candidate will be appointed as ‘Social Media Editor’ on the journal’s Editorial Board, will be provided with guidance and data to support them in their role, and work with the Editors and Publisher to build awareness of Expert Opinion on Therapeutic Patents by connecting with the journal’s community online. They may also be invited to join journal meetings, either virtually, or in person (depending on location). The Social Media Editor will receive an honorarium of £400 (pro-rata where necessary), to cover journal-related expenses. As an Editorial Board member, they will also receive a 30% discount for Routledge and Taylor & Francis books.

Expert Opinion on Therapeutic Patents (ISSN 1354-3776 [print], 1744-7674 [electronic]) is a MEDLINE-indexed, peer-reviewed, international journal publishing review articles on recent pharmaceutical patent claims, providing expert opinion the scope for future development, in the context of the scientific literature.

The Editors welcome:

  • Reviews covering recent patent claims on compounds or applications with therapeutic potential, including biotherapeutics and small-molecule agents with specific molecular targets; and patenting trends in a particular therapeutic area
  • Patent Evaluations examining the aims and chemical and biological claims of individual patents
  • Perspectives on issues relating to intellectual property

The audience consists of scientists, managers and decision-makers in the pharmaceutical industry and others closely involved in R&D

Expert Opinion on Therapeutic Patents already successfully serves a huge readership, with over 129,000 downloads in 2022.
