Editor(s) needed for

Australian Historical Studies

Deadline
31 July 2024

About the role

The Board of Australian Historical Studies is seeking Expressions of Interest for new editor(s) of the journal for a 3 or optional 4 year term. Editors have typically been appointed in teams, though individuals may also apply. The current editors, Professor Fiona Paisley and Professor Tim Rowse, complete their formal editorial term in December 2024, but will remain on the Board in a handover capacity until December 2025.

The incoming editor(s) will be appointed for a 3 year term (2025-2027) or optional 4 year term (2025-2028). The outgoing editors will see through to completion all submissions received and in process by 31 December 2024. They will also provide handover guidance, support and mentorship to the new editor(s) in their first 12 months. All submissions for which reviewers are invited from 1 January 2025 are the responsibility of the incoming editor(s). Following the end of their formal editorial term, those editor(s) are asked to remain on the Board in a handover capacity for one year.

The journal is published by the Taylor and Francis/Informa Group, which handles subscriptions, production and distribution. All submissions are made through an online manuscript central site, ScholarOne. A part-time Administrative and Editorial Assistant, based at the University of Melbourne, supports the journal and its editors. Those interested in the position should indicate their relevant experience, the skills they would bring to the role and their ideas for the future development of the journal.
