About the role

Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology is currently recruiting for editorial board members. This role is a great opportunity for an academic with a strong research background in gastroenterology who also has the commitment, drive and ability to help develop the journal.

As part of the role, you will be responsible for supporting the editors and publisher with your expertise on an ad hoc basis, acting as a peer reviewer for manuscripts on occasion, being an advocate for the journal in your networks and at events and conferences, and attending an annual editorial board meeting to discuss plans for the journal's development. You will also be welcomed to submit your own work to the journal and to be involved in journal special issues.

Becoming the editor board member of a journal is a rewarding and fulfilling experience where you have the opportunity to build your own networks, develop and promote the research in your field, and be recognized as a leading figure within the academic community.

Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology publishes international research into gastroenterology and hepatology, covering all aspects of digestive organs.

As a leading journal in the field, Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology benefits from an international Editorial Board and includes contributions from all over the world.

The journal covers the following topics:

  • Reviews and original research articles on all aspects of digestive organs, within surgery and internal medicine in addition to other areas
  • Reports on all features of patient-oriented research and methodology, including endoscopy
  • Cost-benefit evaluations and basal research within the fields of gastroenterology and hepatology

Supplements may be accepted after editorial review.

Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology accepts research and review articles, editorials, letters to the editor and short reports. The journal does not accept case reports.

  • The capacity to devote time each month to the role, and to attend Editorial Board meetings and training sessions as needed.
  • A commitment to engaging promptly and efficiently with Taylor & Francis staff and suppliers to implement necessary processes and improvements.
  • A strong commitment to ethical rigour as well as knowledge of the COPE guidelines and commitment to ensure that the journal adheres to strict ethical standards at all times.
  • A proven track record as a key opinion leader and known figure within your academic discipline.
  • Actively involved in growing and developing your academic networks through conference attendance and experience of networking through social media.
  • A vision and enthusiasm for the continuous development of the journal.

The role will formally begin from July 2024.
