About the role

International Journal of Mining, Reclamation and Environment is seeking a new Editor-in-Chief.

The Editor-in-Chief is the head of the Editorial Team responsible for:

  • Framing journal editorial policy jointly with Taylor and Francis, working with the Editorial Team and Editorial Board on development plans, indexing strategy, etc.
  • Managing the peer-review process and delivering decisions on the acceptance or rejection of articles submitted to the journal via an online submission system. In all cases the Editor-in-Chief’s decision on a paper will be final and will ensure that reviewers and authors adhere to the Journal's Code of Publishing Ethics.
  • Ensuring an adequate flow of material to meet the publication schedules.
  • Working with the Editorial Team and Editorial Board to commission Special Issues.
  • Assisting in the appointment of other members of the Editorial Team for the journal.
  • Promoting the journal at conferences and through their networks.
  • Dealing with all author appeals and inquiries regarding manuscript decisions.
  • Chairing Editorial Board Meetings

Key Skills and Attributes

Applicants interested in taking on the role of Editor-in-Chief for International Journal of Mining, Reclamation and Environment should be familiar with and known in the field and related networks. She or he is someone who ideally has experience in the peer-review and editorial process and is also organised and committed to deliver timely decisions in the peer-review process.

Taylor & Francis will provide remuneration for the role to cover journal-related expenses, full Editorial Manager™ Manuscripts training and administrative support.

Taylor & Francis will assist in organising regular Editorial Board meetings, and we will supply annual reports reflecting on the performance of the Journal.
