Nondestructive Testing and Evaluation intends to form an Early Career Editorial Board (ECEB) to recognize outstanding early career researchers and engage them in a path towards editorial work.

About the journal

Nondestructive Testing and Evaluation publishes the pioneer results of research and development in the underlying theory, novel techniques and applications of Non-Destructive Testing and Evaluation (NDT&E) in the form of letters, original papers and invited review articles. The Editor-in-Chief is Prof. Gui Yun Tian from Newcastle University.

Articles concerning both the investigation of physical processes and the development of mechanical processes as well as techniques are welcomed. Studies of conventional techniques, including radiography, ultrasound, eddy currents, magnetic properties and magnetic particle inspection, thermal imaging and dye penetrant, will be considered.

In addition to traditional and new NDT&E topics, high quality findings from related research areas, including biomedical NDE, structural health and condition monitoring, sensor technology, new techniques for simulation and modelling, processing and analysing data from NDE methods are also within the scope of the journal. Articles are invited on general aspects of NDT&E in education, training, validation and links with engineering.

All submitted manuscripts are subject to initial appraisal by the Editor, and, if found suitable for further consideration, to peer review by independent, anonymous expert referees. All peer review is single blind and submission is online via ScholarOne Manuscripts.

Key Skills and Attributes

Early career researchers are defined as those who have completed their doctoral degree and are within ten years of their first independent research career.

The responsibilities of ECEB members include:

  • Conduct reviews for at least 5 submissions to the journal annually;
  • Submit your own manuscript to NDT&E where appropriate;
  • Be an ambassador of NDT&E and promote the journal via social media, conferences, and other channels;
  • Attend the journal’s trainings and meetings when possible, provide consultation to NDTE editors at their request
  • Assist with special issues under the guidance and discretion of NDTE editors

A term for ECEB members is two years, with possible renewal for a second term. Exceptional ECEB members could be promoted to NDT&E Editorial Board member.
