About the role
Geriatric Pharmacology is a new journal launching in 2023 and is currently recruiting for two Associate Editors. The first Associate Editor role is covering the area of Basic Pharmacology / Drug Discovery and Development; while the second role is covering the area of Qualitative Research.
Becoming an Associate Editor is a great opportunity for academics with a strong research background, who also have the commitment, drive and ability to help develop a journal. As part of this role, you will be responsible for the oversight and administration of a rigorous and proper peer review process of submitted manuscripts. You would also act as an advocate for the journal and help promote the journal to your colleagues and network and also at any conferences or events you attend.

About the journal

Geriatric Pharmacology seeks research that improves our understanding of how current pharmaceuticals behave in older adults and how they are developed for this patient group. The journal will welcome robust basic and clinical research on the development of treatments for conditions that typically affect older adults and will cover topics such as drug discovery and development, dosage and adherence, clinical safety, deprescribing, polypharmacy, drug delivery, pharmacoepidemiology, and pharmacovigilance.
The journal publishes Research Articles, Review Articles (narrative and systematic reviews and meta-analyses), unique Case Reports, Patient Perspectives, Letters to the Editor, Commentaries and Data Notes.

- The capacity to devote time each week to the role, and to attend Editorial Board meetings and training sessions as needed.
- Some level of experience of the academic publishing process, either as an author, reviewer or journal Editorial Board Member
- The ability to ensure all submitted manuscripts are considered in a prompt, consistent and professional manner.
- The ability to read, summarize, and recommend decisions based on independent reviewer reports.
- A commitment to communicating promptly, consistently, and professionally with authors during the peer review process.
The role will formally begin from 1st January 2024.
