Associate Editors in Endocrinology needed for

International Journal of General Medicine

30 June 2024

About the role

The International Journal of General Medicine is currently recruiting Associate Editors for the Endocrinology section.

This role is a great opportunity for an academic with a strong background in endocrinology, and who also has the commitment, drive and ability to help develop the journal. Associate Editors are the head of their section. They have overall responsibility for the content that is published in their section.

In addition:

  • They are also responsible for the commissioning of articles and driving content to their section.
  • It is expected that the Associate Editor acts as an ambassador for the International Journal of General Medicine and will collaborate with the Editor-in-Chief and Publisher in advocating for the journal, including raising the profile of the journal.
  • An Associate Editor is expected to actively feed into the journal’s development initiatives and engage with the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief.
  • Associate Editors will be assigned all articles submitted to their section. They are responsible for assessing submissions for suitability, rejecting those that are out of scope, not suitable or unsound. The Reviewer Selection Support team will coordinate the review process, which includes selecting and inviting suitable reviewers. The Associate Editor is responsible for providing their own assessment of the paper and decision, based upon the reviewer reports received, in a timely manner.
  • The Associate Editor should make all final decisions, considering the reviewer reports, as well as their own review of the paper. Articles should be accepted or rejected in line with the journal’s acceptance criteria.

These roles provide ample opportunity for an academic with a research background in endocrinology, and who also has the commitment, drive and ability to help develop the journal. Becoming the editor of a journal is a rewarding and fulfilling experience where you have the opportunity to build your own networks, develop and promote the research in your field, and be recognized as a leading figure within the academic community.

The journal is also open to Editorial Board member applications - use the same link to apply.
