About the role

Cogent Economics and Finance is seeking Associate Editors for its Development Economics section.

We welcome applications from academics with a strong track record in economics centred on development.

This is an excellent opportunity for hands-on subject matter experts who want to shape the literature of their discipline. In this active, operational role, you will oversee the peer-review pipeline for your specialty, ensure high scholarly standards, and collaborate with the leadership team to drive the journal's growth.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage the peer-review process for manuscripts within your field of expertise, utilizing the journal’s submission system.
  • Identify, recruit, and secure qualified peer reviewers to ensure timely, robust, and constructive evaluations.
  • Assess reviewer feedback and deliver clear editorial recommendations (Accept, Revise, Reject) to the Section Editor.
  • Uphold research integrity and publishing ethics, ensuring all handled manuscripts adhere to COPE guidelines.
  • Proactively commission high-impact content, including inviting submissions, proposing Special Issues, or developing article collections.
  • Actively promote the journal within your professional networks and represent the title at key events and conferences.

About the Journal

The Development Economics section welcomes novel and interesting applied research that makes a valuable contribution to the field of Economics across all aspects of development economics including, but not limited to: fiscal policy, monetary policy, health policy, regulatory policy, political economy, underdevelopment, agriculture, poverty, inequality, globalisation and trade, sustainable development, energy and environment.

This section welcomes research which employs an interdisciplinary approach and addresses questions in development economics, that are of interest to the general readers of the journal, comprising both academia and practitioners. It also welcomes research in development economics at the macro, micro and meso level.
