About the role

Drug Design, Development and Therapy are currently recruiting for a variety of positions on the Editorial Board across various subspecialties within the journal scope. The full list of roles currently available on Drug Design, Development and Therapy can be found below:

Associate Editors in the following fields:

  • Fragment-based drug discovery
  • Isolation, structural characterization, (bio)synthesis, bioengineering and pharmacological evaluation of natural products
  • Clinical drug evaluation
  • Patient safety and sustained use of medicines
  • Pharmaceutical/red biotechnology
  • Distribution, pharmacokinetics and metabolic transformations of drugs or biologically active compounds in drug development

These roles provide ample opportunity for an academic with a research background in drug design, development and therapy, and who also has the commitment, drive and ability to help develop the journal. Associate Editors assist the Editor in Chief in setting the scope of journal. Editorial Board members support the Associate Editor by promoting the journal and encouraging submissions to the journal.

As part of the Associate Editor roles, you will be responsible for making editorial decisions on a subset of manuscripts submitted to the journal, delivering content of suitable scope and quality for publication within an agreed timeframe. Associate Editors are responsible for setting and executing journal strategy, in collaboration with the Editor in Chief; provide leadership and guidance to the Editorial Board on their area of expertise; and should take a lead role in the commissioning of new articles. All roles will receive support and appropriate training by a number of expert in-house teams at Taylor & Francis responsible for initial checking of papers and inviting of reviewers.

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Experience in academic publishing and familiarity with all stages of the process.
  • The capacity to devote time each week to the role, and to attend Editorial Board meetings and training sessions as needed.
  • A strong commitment to ethical rigour as well as knowledge of the COPE guidelines and commitment to ensure that the journal adheres to strict ethical standards at all times.
  • A commitment to engaging promptly and efficiently with Taylor & Francis staff and suppliers to implement necessary processes and improvements.
  • Actively involved in growing and developing your academic networks through conference attendance and experience of networking through social media.

Additionally, for the Associate Editor positions, we are seeking a candidate with:

  • The ability to ensure all assigned manuscripts are considered in a prompt, consistent and professional manner.
  • The ability to confidently use an online peer review management system following training.
  • The ability to read, summarize, and make decisions based on independent reviewer reports.
  • A willingness to proactively lead the editorial board.
  • A proven track record as a key opinion leader and known figure within your academic discipline.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the open access publishing environment.
