About the role
The Journal of Medical Engineering & Technology is currently recruiting Associate Editors and Editorial Board Members. The roles are great opportunities for academics with a strong research background in Medical Engineering and Technology, and who also has the commitment, drive and ability to help develop the journal. As part of this role, you will be responsible for assisting the Editorial Team of the journal with the administration of a rigorous and proper peer review process that delivers an agreed amount of content of suitable scope and quality within an agreed publication timeframe. You will provide support in reviewing papers when invited, and advise the journal on its strategy, including commissioning ideas and ways the journal can better serve its community.
We also welcome Peer Reviewer applications.
About the journal

The Journal of Medical Engineering & Technology is an international, independent and interdisciplinary journal which aims to provide a broad perspective on engineering and technology in the medical setting, including an understanding of the physiological processes underlying disease and disability. It is published eight times a year.
Features include authoritative review papers, reports of original research, and evaluation reports on new and existing techniques and devices. Innovation papers provide a wide range of topics covering medical engineering in healthcare from concept to clinic, and the journal publishes tutorials to promote a broad base of information and knowledge. Each issue of the journal contains a comprehensive information service which provides news relevant to the world of medical engineering and technology, details of new products, and selected contents of related journals.
The Journal of Medical Engineering & Technology also publishes thematic special issues that focus on topics of importance.

- Experience in academic publishing and familiarity with all stages of the process.
- The capacity to devote time each week to the role, and to attend Editorial Board meetings and training sessions as needed.
- The ability to ensure all manuscripts assigned to you are considered in a prompt, consistent and professional manner.
- The ability to confidently use an online peer review management system.
- Experience with working effectively with independent peer reviewers.
- The ability to read, summarize, and make decisions based on independent reviewer reports.
- A commitment to communicating promptly, consistently, and professionally with authors, reviewers and the Editorial Team of the journal.
- A commitment to engaging promptly and efficiently with Taylor & Francis staff and suppliers to implement necessary processes and improvements.
- A strong commitment to ethical rigour as well as knowledge of the COPE guidelines and commitment to ensure that the journal adheres to strict ethical standards at all times.
- Actively involved in growing and developing your academic networks through conference attendance and experience of networking through social media.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the open access publishing environment.
- A vision and enthusiasm for the continuous development of the journal.
