About the Critical Insights Series
Critical Insights is a new series of selective, forward-thinking open access journals which will be led by recognised experts in the field.
With a focus on good service for author, reader, editorial team and reviewer, the Critical Insights series ensures published articles represent the importance of the work and how it will influence where a field is going. Planned features include:
Speedy desk decisions with support from a desk editor for integrity and initial checking
Dedicated publisher staff and systems to enable high quality, responsive customer service
Focus on constructive and positive peer review and high production values to create the best version of the work
Critical Insights Summaries highlighting the importance of the work and how it will influence future development of the field
Executive Editor support from Publisher
About the role
We are currently recruiting for Editors-in-Chief and Community Editors for Critical Insights journals across a range of subjects. The journals will launch in the second half of 2023 with a view to publishing their first volumes in 2024.

The Editor-in-Chief role is suitable for academics who hold strong views on the future development of their field and are enthusiastic about promoting new ideas. The primary role of the Editor-in-Chief is to identify exciting new fields emerging within their community and champion Critical Insights to that community.
The role of the Community Editor will be to lead a section for your community and oversee a collaborative peer review process for that section with assistance from the publisher. We want to ensure that the Community Editor can focus on evaluating articles submitted to the journal based on their scientific content.
Key Skills and Attributes
Ready to apply? Here are the skills and attributes we are looking for in successful applicants:
• Experience in academic publishing and familiarity with all stages of the process.
• The capacity to devote time each week to the role, and to attend Editorial Board meetings and training sessions as needed.
• An interest in identifying new and emerging areas in your subject and its related fields.
• The ability to confidently use an online peer review management system.
• Experience with working effectively with independent peer reviewers.
• Willingness to engage in profile raising activities (e.g., Webinars, Conference Sessions) to promote the journal and the field it represents
• A commitment to communicating promptly, consistently, and professionally with authors during the peer review process.
• A commitment to engaging promptly and efficiently with Taylor & Francis staff and suppliers to implement necessary processes and improvements.
• A strong commitment to ethical rigour as well as knowledge of the COPE guidelines and commitment to ensure that the journal adheres to strict ethical standards at all times.

The deadline for submissions is the 30th June 2023. A review process will then take place and successful applicants will be contacted within two weeks of the deadline.

Priority will be given to applications which include a vision statement articulating ideas to develop the title. .
