Meet the Editor-In-Chief
Over several decades, Klotz directed a research program with focus on evolution and genome-informed analyses of molecular inventory key to N-oxide transformations. He was one of the initiators of a genome sequencing initiative for N-cycle bacteria (starting in 1999) focusing on metabolic reconstruction with a specific interest in bioenergetics and the role of cytochrome c proteins. Klotz was actively involved in microbiology education through scholarly teaching and professional outreach locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally, facilitating progress of the next generation and gender equity. He has served his professional society, ASM, as a division officer & councilor, and continues to serve on editorial boards of several microbiology journals and was the Editor-in-Chief (2010-2022) of Frontiers in Microbiology. Martin G. Klotz continues to be affiliated with Washington State University School of Biosciences as an Emeritus Professor.
