About the journal

Clinical and Investigative Orthodontics is an international, peer-reviewed journal publishing high-quality original research.

The aim of Clinical and Investigative Orthodontics is to provide a high level of orthodontic research worldwide and to contribute to the knowledge and skills of researchers, dentists, and other health professionals concerned with orthodontics and its related fields.

In 2022 and 2023, The Japanese Orthodontic Society has sponsored the conversion of all published articles from subscription to open access model.

Starting 22nd August 2023, the Japanese Orthodontic Society will continue proudly to support the transformation of Clinical and Investigative Orthodontics to a Diamond model open access journal by covering in full Article Processing Charges (APC) for all authors who submit to the journal.

Professor Miyawaki is the Chair of the Department of Orthodontics, Kagoshima University Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences.

He obtained his Ph.D. in 1994 at Osaka University Graduate School of Dentistry and his D.D.S. in 1989 at Osaka University, Faculty of Dentistry. Professor Miyawaki has been the Editor-in-Chief to Clinical and Investigative Orthodontics since 2014, and a loyal member to the Japanese Orthodontic Society since 2008.

Professor Miyawaki is currently the President and Academic Director of the Kyushu Orthodontic Society. He is the Director to the Japanese Society of Stomatognathic Function and to the Japanese Cleft Palate Association.

He has undertook high level leadership and research positions such as Dean to Faculty of Dentistry, Kagoshima University (2016- 2020), Vice-Dean at the Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences, Kagoshima University (2011-2016), Associate Professor at the Okayama University (2005), Research fellow at the Montreal University, Canada (2001-2002), Lecturer at the Okayama University (1999-2005), Assistant Professor at the Nara Medical University (1997-1999), and Postdoctoral Fellow at the Osaka University (1994-1997).
