Accounting History Review

Conference Call for Papers

Deadline: 15 Febuary 2019

2019 Annual Conference Announcement and Initial Call for Papers

This Annual Conference will build on recent scholarship in Accounting History Review that demonstrates an important and impressive shift from accounting history to accounting in history – from accounting historians to historians who examine multi-faceted social and institutional contexts through an accounting lens. Our studies contribute positively and authoritatively to discussions with respect to historically-informed and theoretically-informed research, especially into how history and organisation and management studies might learn from each other to provide richer narratives of organisational life.

Our conference returns to our ‘Cardiff’ roots.  Theoretical, empirical and review papers are welcomed in all areas of accounting history.  We encourage studies that move beyond disciplinary boundaries and engage with historians in other research areas.  The conference provides delegates with the opportunity of presenting and discussing, in an informal setting, papers ranging from early working drafts to fully developed manuscripts. The conference format will include approximately 40 minutes for presentation and discussion in order to provide worthwhile feedback for presenters.

As in the past, many manuscripts presented at our annual gathering have subsequently appeared in print in Accounting History Review (previously Accounting, Business and Financial History edited by John Richard (Dick) Edwards and Trevor Boyns), or in another of the full range of international, refereed academic accounting, business and economic history journals.
