Call for Special Issue Proposals
Architecture & Culture is concerned with the culture of architecture – the culture that surrounds architecture, and the way architecture embodies and articulates culture. We aim to publish work that is rigorous and explorative, endlessly questioning in its pursuit of understanding, and compelling to read. We are particularly interested in research that dismantles disciplinary boundaries, whether explicitly or implicitly, asking what architecture might be, and/or observing it through different disciplinary lenses.
A number of our special issues have been guest edited. Themes have included ‘Disciplinary Practices’, ‘Urban Atmospheres’, ‘Architecture and the Space of Information’, ‘Solids and Flows: Architecture and Capitalism’, ‘Styles of Queer Feminist Practices and Objects in Architecture’, ‘Anonymity and Hidden Mechanisms in Design and Architecture’. We welcome thoughtful and timely proposals for forthcoming special issues which choreograph a question, a new territory, repertoires of practice, or which open up interplays between different disciplines and architecture and culture in rigorous and imaginative ways.
