Cogent Mental Health welcomes contributions for an Article Collection that delves into the intricate connections between climate change, biodiversity loss, and mental health. We invite innovative research articles, reviews, and case studies that explore this dynamic interplay, from the mental health impacts of environmental changes to the role of behavioural and policy interventions.

This Article Collection aims to bring together a diverse range of articles investigating the multifaceted relationship between climate and ecological change and mental health, including but not limited to:

  1. Mental Health Across Diverse Populations: Analysing the direct and indirect effects of climate and ecological change on the mental well-being of diverse communities and populations.
  2. Impacts on Psychological Development: Examining the role of climate and ecological change on the psychological development of children and young people.
  3. Climate/Eco-Distress and Anxiety: Exploring the psychological aspects of climate and ecological distress, including eco-anxiety, and their implications for mental health.
  4. Impacts of Mitigation and Adaptation Behaviours: Investigating the mental health consequences of individual and group climate mitigation or adaptation behaviours.
  5. Mental Health Implications of Climate Policies: Assessing how climate mitigation or adaptation policies affect mental well-being at both individual and societal levels.
  6. Environmental Factors and Mental Health: Examining the complex interplay between mental health and environmental factors, such as urbanization, resource allocation, and pollution.
  7. Environmental Activism and Communication: Exploring the mental health implications of environmental activism and effective communication strategies that take mental health into consideration.

Instructions for Authors

The following Article Types will be considered: clinical case reports and case series; theoretical papers; original research including experimental, cross-sectional, and longitudinal designs, and including quantitative/qualitative/mixed-method designs; systematic and scoping reviews, and meta-analyses.
