Big Earth Data for Cultural Heritage

Big Earth Data Special Issue Call for Papers

Technological advancements of remote sensors have changed both the scale as well as the temporal analysis of heritage investigations. The increased automation of image processing and mining workflows as well as the availability of cloud platforms able to support big data processing using sophisticated methods such as deep learning and machine learning are some of the key trends observed in the last years in the field.

This special issue invites both research and review articles related to current and novel practices of big earth data for cultural heritage applications. The special issue aims to cover both current research in the field as well as future trends, either performed in a local or on a wider scale. Authors are encouraged to submit articles on, but not limited to, the following subjects, dealing with cultural heritage documentation, mapping, modeling, detection, protection, management, preservation and sustainability:
