Sexuality and Sexual Dysfunctions in the Aging Male
The Aging Male is pleased to invite you to submit your research to the upcoming Article Collection “Sexuality and Sexual Dysfunctions in the Aging Male” organized by Guest Advisors Professor Yan Zhang and Professor Xiangsheng Zhang.
Aging is a global phenomenon, sexual function decreased rapidly as men age, many elderly men still regard sexuality as an important aspect of life or determinants of subjective well-being.
Sexual dysfunction in older men is often multifactorial and multiform. Sexual dysfunction in older men involves many aspects (desire, erectile function, ejaculation and orgasm), late-onset hypogonadism (LOH), lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, hyper lipidaemia, medications and/or surgeries may lead to damage of sexual functions. It is of great significance to further clarify the mechanism and treatment of sexual dysfunction in ageing male.
This Article Collection welcomes all relevant original research articles, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses related but not limited to:
- Erectile dysfunction in the aging male
- Disorders of orgasm and ejaculation in men in the aging male
- Peyronie’s disease and reconstructive surgery in the aging male
- Experimental models for the study of the ageing male’s sexual function
- Future diagnostics and treatment targets for sexual dysfunctions, including stem cell-based therapies in the aging male
Guest Advisor and Editorial Board Member for The Aging Male, Prof. Yan Zhang, is the Director of the Department of Infertility and Sexual medicine, Sun Yat-sen University, China. He is a member of ISSM education committee and International Consultation on Sexual Medicine (ICSM, 4th). He has special interests in male infertility and sexual dysfunction. He is also expert in urological microsurgery and prosthetic surgery. He introduced vasal vessels preserving vasoepididymostomy, varicocelectomy with transfixing of the periarterial vein and the treatment of premature ejaculation with regular penis-root masturbation training.
Guest Advisor, Prof. Xiangsheng Zhang, is President of the Anhui Sexology Association as well as President of the Andrology Branch of Anhui Medical Association. His research interests include sexual medicine and male infertility.
