New Technology Platforms and Optimized Techniques for Drug Identification, Synthesis, and Analysis

Several pandemic communicable and non-communicable diseases are still killing people worldwide, particularly in low and middle-income countries. To tackle the mortality, disabilities, and the impactful cost on the healthcare systems, there is an urgent need to find not only drugs, but also to improve and to find some analytic techniques, methods, and technologies enabling researchers to identify, synthesize, quantify, and characterize these drugs. To reach this objective, which is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG3) aiming good health and well-being, it is expected there will be some major breakthroughs thanks to rapid development of advanced digital technologies, deep learning algorithms, and artificial intelligence.

This Article Collection welcomes all research in the development and improvement of pharmacologic technology platforms and analytical techniques for studying potential new and already-approved drugs, independently from their source of origin.

Some potential subtopics for this Article Collection include (but not limited to):

  1. Machine learning or deep learning technology to assist in drug identification, potential interactions, structure, and formulation of newly-identified drug moieties
  2. Optimized techniques such as chromatographic, spectroscopic, and hyphenated techniques for drug formulation development, new drug extraction techniques from different matrices, and bioavailability studies
  3. Role of analytical techniques in identifying drug targets

All manuscripts submitted to this Article Collection will undergo a full peer-review; the Guest Advisors for this Collection will be handling the manuscripts as they are Editorial Board members.

Please review the journal scope and author submission instructions prior to submitting a manuscript.

The deadline for submitting manuscripts is 31 July 2024.
