Smart and Sustainable Nanomaterials for Biomedical and Environmental Applications
Nanotechnology has significantly improved various scientific fields and is widely applied to address biomedical and environmental challenges. Smart and sustainable nanomaterials developed through nanotechnology are characterized by their responsiveness to external stimuli and eco-friendly design, making them highly promising for next-generation applications. These superior nanomaterials enable a broad range of functionalities, which include targeting drug delivery, antimicrobial resistance, environmental remediation and energy efficiency. In response to the growing demand for innovative solutions to global healthcare and environmental challenges, nano- and biomaterials have emerged as pivotal tools in advancing drug delivery systems, combating antimicrobial resistance, and enabling eco-friendly remediation technologies. Recent progress in biopolymer-based nanostructured materials has demonstrated their efficacy in enhancing therapeutic efficacy, promoting regenerative medicine, and facilitating environmental sustainability. This Article Collection aims to highlight interdisciplinary research that expands scientific frontiers while contributing to sustainable and practical solutions. Through the integration of novel design strategies and functional innovations, it will provide insights into the synthesis, properties, and multifunctional applications of next-generation nanomaterials.
This Article Collection is dedicated to showcasing the most recent advancements in the rapidly growing fields of smart and sustainable nanomaterials developed through cutting-edge nanotechnology. We encourage submissions of original contributions covering, but not limited to, the following topics:
