Personalized and Translational Innovation in Gynecologic Cancer Care

Gynecologic cancers, including ovarian, endometrial, cervical, vulvar and vaginal cancers, remain major threats to women's health across the life course. Their prevention, diagnosis and treatment are being reshaped by advances in molecular classification, high throughput sequencing, spatial and single cell technologies, immunology, minimally invasive surgery, targeted therapy and patient centered care. At the same time, the biological and clinical diversity of these diseases continues to challenge conventional approaches to screening, risk stratification and treatment selection. This Article Collection will bring together research focused on precision medicine and translational innovation in gynecologic oncology, with an emphasis on how laboratory discoveries, clinical evidence and real world practice can be integrated to improve outcomes for women with gynecologic malignancies.

The subject is important because gynecologic cancers often present with heterogeneous biology, variable symptoms and unequal outcomes across populations. Ovarian cancer is frequently diagnosed at an advanced stage, endometrial cancer incidence is rising in many settings, and cervical cancer remains preventable yet continues to impose a substantial burden where vaccination, screening and treatment access are limited. Recent progress in biomarker guided therapy, PARP inhibition, immunotherapy, antibody drug conjugates, molecular risk classification and surgical quality has created new opportunities, but also new questions regarding patient selection, resistance, toxicity, survivorship and access. A dedicated Collection can help identify clinically meaningful advances, methodological gaps and implementation barriers, while encouraging work that connects tumor biology with prevention, treatment, quality of life and equity in women's cancer care.

The Collection welcomes original research, reviews, expert opinions, methods, research letters, case reports and case series that fit the journal scope. Suggested subtopics include molecular classification and multiomics of ovarian, endometrial and cervical cancers; tumor immune microenvironment and immunotherapy; biomarkers for early detection, prognosis and treatment response; targeted therapies, antibody drug conjugates and mechanisms of drug resistance; surgical innovation, perioperative care and fertility preservation; artificial intelligence, imaging and digital pathology; cervical cancer prevention and HPV related disease; nutrition, metabolism and inflammation in gynecologic malignancy; patient reported outcomes, survivorship, sexual health and quality of life; and disparities in access to screening, diagnosis and treatment. The aim is to provide an interdisciplinary platform for clinically relevant, translational and patient centered research that advances care for women affected by gynecologic cancer.
