Electromagnetic Properties of Soft Magnetic Composites

Over the last decade, extremely soft magnetic materials presenting Giant Magnetoimpedance (GMI) effect have gained special relevance both for sensor and smart composite applications, as well as for fundamental research in electrodynamics and magnetism. Owing to unique electromagnetic response and high frequency characteristics, soft magnetic composites can be selectively tuned for a wide variety of emerging electromagnetic devices and sensing applications.

This article collection focuses on the physics of soft magnetic materials and their electromagnetic properties. It also covers the design of highly sensitive magnetic devices and smart composite materials based on the GMI effect and state-of-the-art GMI materials. Recent developments in the field of wireless non-destructive stress and temperature monitoring based on electromagnetic properties of soft magnetic composites are also within the scope of this article collection.

Authors are invited to submit complete unpublished papers, which are not under review in any other conference or journal in the following, but not limited to:

  • Soft magnetic materials
  • Smart magnetic composites
  • Experiments and theory on giant magneto- impedance (GMI) effect
  • GMI materials
  • GMI related applications (sensors, metamaterials)
  • Amorphous and nanocrystalline, metastable magnetic materials and applications
  • Nanostructured magnetic materials (including nano - microcrystalline and granular materials, thin films, coatings and low-dimensional materials
