Silk Based Electronic Fibers and Their Applications
Silk-based electronic fibers are a type of smart textile that integrates functional devices into a flexible and wearable fiber. By incorporating functional components into silk fibers, these fibers have the potential to revolutionize industries such as healthcare, technology, and the environment. Silk-based functional fibers can be used to create smart garments for health monitoring, wearable technology, environmental monitoring, and energy harvesting textiles. The diverse and numerous potential applications of silk-based electronic fibers make them an exciting field of research and innovation.
Due to their high potential, many researchers is proceeding innovative research on the silk-based functional fibers. Sharing the findings can inspire new research and innovation in this field, leading to the development of new technologies and applications that can benefit society. This collection will help to disseminate knowledge and new findings in this field to a wide audience, including other researchers, academics, industry professionals, policymakers, and the general public. This can facilitate the exchange of ideas and knowledge and foster collaboration among different stakeholders.
The main subject is based on the diverse functional silk-based fibers and their applications to various fields. Below are the representative lists of the topics, but not limited to the lists.
- Functional coatings for silk
- Fabrication technology of functional silk fibers
- Silk-based conductive fibers
- Silk-based electronic devices
- Silk-based energy harvesting/storage devices
Guest Advisor Prof. Byungil Hwang is an associate professor in School of Integrative Engineering at Chung-Ang University in South Korea. One of the main themes of his research is to develop conductive fibers based on natural fiber cores. In addition, he is developing functional electronic or energy harvesting devices using the conductive fibers. He published several papers on silk-based conductive fibers utilizing the functional composite coatings
