Climate Change, Health, and Vulnerability: The Role of Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC)
The Journal of Communication in Healthcare: Strategies, Media, and Engagement in Global Health (JCIH), a leading peer-reviewed journal published by Taylor & Francis, is seeking research papers, reviews, and evidence-based case studies on the topic of Climate Change, Health, and Vulnerability: The Role of Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) for a discrete article collection to be published in one the Journal’s 2023 regular issues.
Sample topics for this article collection include but are not limited to:
- Advocacy and policy communication strategies in support of climate change mitigation policies at the organizational, local, national, and global levels
- The role of patient and community engagement in shaping communication interventions and policies to address the impact of climate change
- Equity-driven interventions and policies to address the impact of climate change among populations that have been historically marginalized or experience other kinds of vulnerability or disadvantage
- The role of social and behavior change communication in promoting climate-minded behaviors and social norms among a variety of groups, communities, and populations
- Awareness of/attitudes toward climate change across a variety of professional and lay groups, and the role of SBCC in addressing the current status-quo
- Analysis of media and resources in support of climate change mitigation measures
- Climate change in clinical, community, and population settings: The state of affairs and future directions
- Impact of climate change on specific health areas and related communication strategies to promote policy, social, and behavioral change
- Youth engagement on climate change issues in schools, education, community, and policy settings
- The impact of climate change on mental health
- Visual media and climate change
- The role of SBCC in advancing the climate change movement
- International, interprofessional, interdisciplinary solutions/interventions
- Implications of climate change for health, racial, and social equity: The role of SBCC in addressing climate-driven inequities
The Journal publishes innovative research, interventions and perspectives on health communication in all areas of healthcare, public health, global health and medicine, and is seeking submissions from a diverse group of scholars and practitioners in the United States and globally.
The collection’s topic was proposed by JCIH’s editorial board members Julia Kish-Doto, PhD, Marymount University, and Christian Gloria, PhD, MA, CHES, Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, United States, and Angeles University Foundation and Silliman University, Republic of the Philippines. Drs. Kish-Doto and Gloria will also work closely with the Journal’s Editor-in-Chief on many aspects of this article collection.
