Regenerative Agriculture: Principles, Practices and Outcomes for Food, Soil and Ecosystem Services

International Journal of Sustainable Agriculture is pleased to invite you to submit your research to the upcoming Article Collection “Regenerative Agriculture: Principles, Practices and Outcomes for Food, Soil and Ecosystem Services” organized by Guest Advisor Professor Timothy J. LaSalle.

As a global community, we find ourselves in a dire predicament of our own making with degradation and loss of soil as well as human induced climate change.  Current testimonials and rigorous research evaluating ecosystem management is showing remarkable improvement in soil health, carbon accrual, farmer economic improvement, water percolation and soil water holding capacity, as well as food nutrient density increases in complex regenerative farming systems.  In observing the data coming from these farms is providing a compelling argument to seek more systems-based research that incorporates the soil microbiome as a canter piece of understanding and maximizing net primary productivity while restoring or building fertile soils for future generations.  And our current climate and global concerns, time is of the essence.

Regenerative agriculture is showing positive responses most likely because it is supporting the development or restoration of a healthy/functioning soil microbiome.  That premise leads research questions into such arenas as soil fungal:bacterial ratios; soil nutrient cycling; carbon accrual rates and resiliency; water infiltration rates; water holding capacity; drought resistance; disease and pest resistance; water quality; food nutrient density; effects of minimal tillage; effects of significantly reduced or eliminated outside inputs; economic returns to farmers; etc.

International Journal for Agricultural Sustainability has made this commitment to gathering papers for peer review that address these deeply timely and critical questions for the future of humanity.  We would like to invite those scientists working in this arena to share your work and insights by submitting your paper to this journal with international reach to help us on our way to the kinds of understandings that will help address our most pressing global concerns for food security, soil regeneration, and climate mitigation and resilience.
