Heart Health Literacy
Having low health literacy is associated with worse cardiovascular outcomes, from lower knowledge about risk and prevention, to higher hospitalizations and mortality. This Article Collection of Health Literacy and Communication Open focuses on “Heart Health Literacy” – how we can help communities to access, understand and act on information about their heart health. We invite submissions in all areas of communication and health literacy relating to any type of heart disease or risk factors. This may include qualitative and quantitative studies on patient education, health promotion, risk communication, communication training, understanding and navigating healthcare systems, and behavior change research.
Topics may include (but are not limited to):
- Prevention
- Cardiovascular disease
- Stroke
- Genetic heart conditions
