Green Biomass, Bio-based Materials and Biocatalytic Conversion
In recent years, with the depletion of fossil energy and the in-depth research on the efficacy of natural products, new bio-based energy raw materials, the extraction and synthetic biological preparation of bio-based natural products, and the enhancement and strengthening of catalysts in the biological transformation process have gradually received increasing attention and research. It has gradually played a significant role in fields such as biomedicine, light industry technology and engineering, biomedical engineering, and environmental governance engineering. The synthesis of chemical products and materials from a biological perspective will reduce the reliance on fossil energy and the generation of polluting waste, which has high research significance and social value.
In recent years, global petrochemical resources have been increasingly depleted, and climate change and environmental pollution have been intensifying, which have seriously affected the sustainable development of the global economy. The research, development, promotion and application of biomass conversion and bio-based materials are of great significance for solving the deteriorating environmental problems and are an important part of the global green economy. Among them, the construction of high-value application strategies for bio-based materials in fields such as biomedicine, light industry technology and engineering, and the elaboration of the efficiency enhancement mechanism provide new ideas for addressing the increasingly prominent resource and environmental issues worldwide. The development and utilization of bio-based renewable resources and energy, its synthesis schemes, process intensification mechanisms and economic feasibility assessment all have obvious guiding significance for the existing technical problems. The utilization of biological methods, such as enzyme catalysis and synthetic biology methods, for the conversion and synthesis of bio-based materials, natural products, and biomass energy has obvious technical advantages and is an important research direction for the future.
This Article Collection will communicate the recent advances in the field of bio-based transformation, with an emphasis on biomass, bio-based materials and biocatalytic conversion. All topics related to biomass catalytic conversion, design and preparation of bio-based materials, research on the intrinsic mechanism of structure-performance, application engineering research of bio-based materials, design and preparation of biocatalysts, catalytic conversion of natural products, biological synthesis, economic feasibility assessment and application research in various fields are welcomed. Potential topics include (but not limited to): biomass, biomaterials, biocatalysts, natural products, biosynthesis, etc. The article types include Research Article, Research Letter, Review Article, Methods, and Brief Reports.
