New pharmacological targets for managing age-associated disease states

Together with disease states and conditions traditionally associated with advancing age, e.g., dementia and delirium, significant improvements in managing acute and chronic disease conditions in younger patient cohorts have led to an increasing number of patients with other disease states entering old age.

This Article Collection will solicit articles related to the following subjects. However, we welcome all submissions related to the umbrella topic of pharmacological targets associated to age-related diseases:

  • Successes and challenges in prescribing and managing prescriptions in older patients with multimorbidity
  • Impact of age-related pharmacokinetic changes on pharmacological targets
  • Effects of polypharmacy on age-related disease states
  • Influence of external factors and comorbidities on pharmacological targets and variations in treatment response
  • Drug development and regulatory processes involved in pharmacology for older patients
