Recent Advances in Sensors on Pharmaceutical and Environmental Assay

Lack of timely detection or proper monitoring of pharmaceuticals in their dosage forms, whether this be biological or environmental samples, is still one of the most important points in the research area. Developing a small device that is portable, easy to use, and can monitor various parameters and variables similar to a portable laboratory is crucial for the rapid assay of compounds.

Healthcare awareness has revealed an increased demand for direct and continuous assay systems. The development of new sensors is critical to improving medical value input in diagnosis and supporting clinical treatment in line with precision treatment.

This collection will focus on comprehensive updates via review articles on critical advances and recent trends in sensors and their application to pharmaceutical compounds. Areas of interest include emerging approaches to physical, chemical, and biosensors/bioelectronics, environmental monitoring, medical/clinical diagnostics, point-of-care-testing, as well as wearable sensing devices and systems for precision health/medical technologies.

Micro- and nanomaterials are valuable materials for sensors due to their unique electrical, physical, electro-catalytic, and chemical features and are welcome contributions to this collection.

Analytical techniques used to measure sensor response with high sensitivity, easy application, low cost, and user-friendliness, among other commercial methods are especially welcome.
