Neurodegenerative disease in older adults
In this Collection, Cogent Gerontology is aiming to shed light on cognitive decline related to Alzheimer’s Disease, Vascular Dementia and Lewy Body Syndrome. An emphasis will be placed on diagnosis, therapeutics, and disease mechanisms. This Article Collection seeks to identify drivers of research and progress, describe real and potential solutions to today’s challenges for researchers, patients and their caregivers and will pursue scholarly leadership on novel approaches within these sub-specialties.
This Article Collection will solicit (or consider unsolicited articles) on relevant areas including:
- Experimental and newly emerging treatment modalities, including clinical trials and newly approved approaches
- Diagnosis and diagnostics including imaging, decision processes, communicating diagnoses to patients and new and potential biomarkers
- Disease mechanisms and mechanistic insights that challenge the mainstream opinions
- Innovation around patient and caregiver support
- Policy Implementation
- We consider: Research articles, review articles, registered reports, brief reports, and case reports
